Soccer 101

Camden is playing soccer this fall and loving it. Meanwhile his mom and dad are getting a crash course in Soccer 101. If there is one sport that neither Chris or I know anything about, this would be it. It really is a lot of fun to watch. He has 10 boys on his team but they split the team up and play on 2 different fields which allows for lots of playing time. He had 2 games this weekend and scored 2 goals in each game.
He loves to keep score and can tell you what the score is at any given point during the game. I guess you could say he definitely got the competitive gene.

Why God gave me sons...

One of many reasons why it is that God has blessed me with 3 sons...little boys know how to boost their mommy's confidence without even knowing it. Twice in the last 24 hours Camden has given me compliments that no one else would be willing to give me.
Compliment #1:
Last night for dinner I fixed pancakes and eggs. Nothing special just scrambled eggs and Bisquick pancakes. The boys were so excited to eat them and I was so excited that we were all eating the same thing for dinner. Midway through our meal Camden says, "Mom (he rarely calls me Mommy anymore which makes me sad) these are the best pancakes and eggs! You are the bestest cooker ever. You should be a cooker in your own restaurant." Now I will be the first to admit I'm not the best cook and I don't slave over dinner for hours. I typically go for something fast and easy to fix while trying to keep the meals in the healthy column. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when those words came out of my 4 year old. And of course Carson agreed.

Compliment #2:
This morning on our way home from preschool I drove through a neighborhood that was having a neighborhood garage sale. I did stop at one but didn't buy anything. I left the kids in the car and when I got back in Camden asked, "Mom, did you find a pink shirt that fits you?" Kind of caught off guard by his question because I was looking more for them than me I asked, "Why? Do I need a pink shirt?" He said, "Yes Mom, you look pretty in pink." How sweet...I was almost brought to tears. He had no idea how much he had just made my day.

So I say...thank heaven for little boys. They do know how to reach their Mom's heart.

Preschool...

Today was our first day of preschool. Camden started Pre-K and Carson is in Beginners. Both were so excited to go. Carson was so excited that he had a little trouble going to sleep last night but woke up ready to go. After dropping them off (without tears) Cooper and I went to the first Coffee Time of the year and then went home to do some chores before picking up the boys. They had a really great time and couldn't wait to tell me who was in their class from last year and what they did. I asked them if they saw each other and apparently it was in the bathroom (hopefully not goofing off...as a former teacher I know all to well that the bathroom is a prime meeting spot to socialize). Carson must of thought that was funny because he said laughing "Camden's class goes potty at the same time mine does." He was so happy to get to go with Camden. Hopefully the rest of the week goes as smoothly as today.

Santa Rosa Beach...

One night we went over to Santa Rosa Beach and went out to dinner at a recommended place by Susan Binder called Stinky's Fish Camp (cute name and great food). It was a beautiful non-commercialized beach. I would love to stay in one of these beach houses sometime with family and friends. All of the pictures are now in the web albums. I took a couple of pictures of some of the houses.

Destin Vacation

ahh vacation...that's all that needs to be said. Last week we made our 3rd straight trip down to Destin and by far had the best weather we have ever had. We couldn't have asked for better weather. We had a relaxing time by the ocean and pool all week long (well as much as you can relax with 3 little ones by water). We also took Madi (Andrew's girlfriend) along with us for the second time. We are so thankful that she has been able to go along and help out. It was so nice having an extra set of hands and eyes looking after the boys. Unfortunately our computer is currently being updated with more hard drive (we've maxed out ours) and I can't add any more pictures to it until it is fixed. Once the computer is up and going again, I will add the rest of our vacation pictures to the blog.

Zoo in July...

We don't usually like to take trips to the zoo in July because it is usually so blazing hot. But because it has been mild and Sid the Science Kid was going to be there we decided to go. Tatum and the girls went with us and it turned out to be a fun day! We were able to spend some time at the Komodo Dragon exhibit and they were pretty cool to see. We learned some interesting facts. I asked Camden what he learned from the volunteer who was talking and he was amazed that they could eat a Water Buffalo. Carson's favorite were the Monkeys (who were a bit out of control that day). There was one in particular who was upsetting the rest of the monkeys and was causing a commotion. My ever so curious child (Camden) wanted to know why their bottoms were so red. I had to come up with an answer quick and my response was they they got sunburned. He was satisfied and so was I. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...at least for now.
Sid the Science Kid is a PBS show that the boys like.

Cooper and this baby elephant have something in common.
