Day #2 for Preschool & MDO

Well you would think by these pictures that the second day of school went as smoothly as the first. But when it came time for Camden to get out of the car it was a completely different story. The teacher couldn't get him out of the car. I had to pry him off of Carson's carseat, and his teacher carried him off screaming and crying. The director of the preschool, Teri Russell, stopped me and told me she would call. I figured he would settle down and he did after spending 20 minutes of crying with Mrs. Russell. She took him into the toy room ("discovery room") so it was just them two and they talked and he settled down and he had a good rest of the day. Apparently he started playing with a Matchbox motorcycle and they agreed he could take it home if it was going to make him feel better. I think he is really struggling with the change of having new teachers and a new room. He still talks about the ones he had last year.
**It kind of looks like we should have had a fog delay this morning but I am glad we didn't because it didn't cross my mind to look for any school delays.

It took quite a few trys to get a cute picture of them just standing and smiling.

Mom's Day Out Bound...

Carson is following his big brother's footsteps and had his first day of Mom's Day Out ("school" as he calls it) today, and he couldn't have been more excited to go. Camden had his first day of Preschool today as well, but he didn't want his picture taken (we'll try on Thurs.). Camden almost didn't go to school because he wasn't feeling well. He went to bed with a fever and I wasn't sure I was going to send him, but we didn't want him to miss the first day and neither did he. So he wasn't in the best of moods this morning. However they both had great days. Camden gets dropped off first (they start 15 min. apart) and when we let Camden out Carson thought he wasn't going to get to go and got really upset. We assured him that his turn was coming up and he was happy about that. Mommy and Daddy went grocery shopping and ran some errands and it felt so weird to do it all without the boys.
Carson felt so big and proud...when I asked him what I thought he was going to do there he said, "have Lego snacks." His teacher gave the kids a treat when we went to meet her the last week and he remembered that. Fruit snacks are his absolute favorite.

Friendly Gathering

Saturday we went over to Tatum and Jose's for a gathering with them and Erica (Groves) and Andy Brehm and their little twin girls, Iris and Layla (they will be 2 in Nov.). It was really busy but a fun evening. With 6 kids all under the age of 4 (poor little Sonia didn't make any of the pictures), you can imagine how thankful we were that it was nice out enough to send them outside to burn off some energy and play with each other. I think by the end of the night it was the adults who were completely exhausted.

Winding down time. It was late and we were trying to catch the last of the Olympics before heading home so we read some books, which worked out great because when we got home that was one less thing we had to do.

Destin Vacation

For the second year in a row we have taken our family vacation in Destin, FL. And for the second time we were happy with the results. We had some minor bumps with weather and the boys being a little sick, but overall we had a pretty relaxing time. I can't think of anything more relaxing then being on vacation by the beach. We also took my brother's girlfriend, Madi, with us to help out and she was tremendous. It was nice having an extra person around to help out and the boys enjoyed having her around. Our first full day, Sunday, was by far the best. The water was so calm and clear that the boys could just put their swimmies on and float around out in the ocean. There were a lot of fish swimming all around and Camden wanted us to catch them. Carson thought we were going to see sharks...thankfully that was not the case. It rained a lot on Tues. and Wed., but we finished the week on a high note. The water got pretty rough after the rain so the boys enjoyed the pool more than the ocean. You can check the web albums for the complete photo album.

Diaper Throwing & Painting

These were taken a few weeks back, but I hadn't been able to find a good time to post them. I always check on the boys before we go to bed at night and this is what I walked into when I checked on Carson. More times than not the boys don't fall asleep right away when we put them to bed, they like to play and wind themselves down a little. Carson had taken all the diapers out of the diaper caddy hanging on his bed. He had them everywhere...on both sides and inside of his bed. He is asleep in his bed, and you can see him if you look closely.

Here the boys are trying out the new easel Carson got for his birthday. They loved painting and wish Mommy would let them do it more often. I like how Carson's belly almost gets in the way of the paints.
