We took a trip back to the zoo on Thursday to see the new Cheetah exhibit. Memaw Q. came along with us and it turned out to be a perfect day...not too crowded and not to hot. We made a full day of it and saw every animal in the zoo including the White River Garden Butterflies...that's something we've never done before. Usually we see all of the bigger exhibits but skip the small ones because there is never enough time with nap schedules. But Cooper fell asleep so we stayed longer than usual.
The cheetahs were active and up walking around. The exhibit is pretty cool and worth the trip to see them. I think they are more active in the morning before it gets too hot. Camden is really enjoying a new part of the zoo and that is all of the information they give you about each animal. He is really starting to read well and loves to read facts about the animals.
This cheetah kept walking back and forth and staring the boys down. A couple of them did run and play a little. If they walk by the glass you are able to get really close to them as you can see. Great for little ones.
We took the train ride around the zoo. It goes behind the scenes where the zookeepers work and by the veterinary clinic.

There were so many beautiful butterflies.
Cooper got to touch one before it flew away.Carson couldn't wait to get here. All he wanted to do all day was go see the butterflies. He LOVES bugs. They love to go out to our garden and try to catch butterflies. They actually caught one with their nets a couple of days ago.
This one had a broken wing (probably from all of the little kids trying to catch them) and couldn't fly away so they each got to hold it.
We could have dropped Carson off here first thing and picked him up on our way out and he would have been so happy.
