Our busy weekend started on Friday with the boys' preschool zoo trip. Thankfully the weather held off and the animals were active. Saturday included baseball games in warmer weather (finally), working in the yard, and then we settled down in the evening at Dillon Park watching "Cars" under the stars. On Sunday we beared the heat and took the boys downtown to the Chase 500 Rookie Run, and then headed back home to cool off in the slip-n-slide. I have posted more photos of the weekend in the web albums.
Up close and personal with the giraffes
Part of yard work on Sat. (unexpectedly) included moving a turtle not once but twice.
A neighbor moved him from the middle of the street back down a hill out of harm's way.
However when I was mowing the yard (a couple of hours later) I found him in our yard on the same path he came from.
We finally got to relax. "Cars" was the first of a series of outdoor movies that our city parks and recreations puts on throughout the summer.
The movie started at dusk (9:00) and I think Cooper fell asleep at about 9:30. So I actually got to watch the movie.
Carson and Nadia lead their pack of 3 year olds. They did great and didn't stop until they got to the finish line.
They were so "exhausted" from their race, but were super thrilled to get their medal.
Camden's long awaited turn (he's in the red on the left side). It was really hot and he was very patient waiting for his turn. The five year olds were a little more competitive and only a couple of parents ran with their kid.
Camden did a great job and was happy to get his medal as well.

Uncle Drew joined us for this hot, hot day. Thank you for coming to cheer us on. You were a lot of help.
The slip-n-slide was the perfect way to cool off.
